EMAIL FAQs

  • How do I log into my email account?
    • Student: Your username is the first initial of your first name, your last name, and the last four digits of your student id number. (ex. Tsmith2345). Your password will be your student ID number without the leading zero.
    • Employee: To initially log into your account, your username will be your firstname.lastname. (ex.. tom.smith) Your password will be your ID number without the leading zero.

  • What do I do if I forgot my password?
    • If you have forgotten your password, you may contact Technology Services at 601-477-4160 and someone there will assist you with gaining access to your account.

  • How do I change my password?
    • Once you are logged into your account you will be able to change your password to one that you choose. You do this by clicking on settings at the top right of the screen, clicking on accounts, and clicking on change password. You will be prompted for the current password and then the new password. Remember to click save at the bottom of the screen and to keep passwords as unique as possible for your email security.

  • Did my folders move over?
    • If you are an employee and had folders created in the previous email system, they were migrated over. However, they are considered labels instead of folders and show up at the bottom left of the screen when you are logged into your account.

  • How do I login to my Canvas account?

    • Student Login:
      First initial of first name
      Full last name
      Last 4 digits of student id
      (ex - jsmith1234)

    • Password:
      "jc" plus last 4 of social security number
      (ex - jc5678)


  • What do I do if I cannot login?
    • Call the Helpline @ 1 (855) 308-2755 for 24/7 support
    • Call eLearning @ (601) 477-5454

  • What’s next after I login to Canvas?
    • Click "Courses" at the top left after logging in.
    • Click the course name to access the materials.

JC PORTAL FAQs

  • What is the default information for the JCPortal?
    • UserID:  “W” plus your seven-digit student id.  The “W” is in UPPERCASE. Example: John Smith 0100456= W0100456
    • Password:  Your initial password is comprised of the first two letters of your first name, first two letters of your last name, and the last four digits of your college ID.  Example: John Smith 0100456 the password is JOSM0456.  The “JOSM” is in UPPERCASE.  Please change this password as soon as possible.    
                        
  • What can I do if I have forgotten my password?
    • You can reset the password and unlock your account, by selecting the “Forgot My Password” located on the JCPORTAL login page and a new password will be emailed to your college email account.  (If you are not familiar with logging into your JC email account or have forgotten that information, please refer to the Email FAQ section at the top of this page.)

    NOTE: After you have changed your password, click on Sign out link located at the top of this screen and login to the JCPORTAL using your new password.

  • I am logged into my portal, but I can’t find my grades, financial aid, class schedule, etc.
    • Once you are logged into the JCPORTAL, you will see an option located under the menu heading which states, “Self Service”.  Click on “Self Service” and you will then see several folders appear with subtitles for each one, describing in greater detail the information each folder contains.  To see a summary of your account, please click on “Student Center”.

  • What can I do if I have followed all of the above steps and am still having problems logging into the JCPORTAL?
    • First of all disable any popup blockers in your web browser.If you need additional assistance from the college, please contact the HELP DESK at (601) 477-4160, or you may send an email to helpdesk@jcjc.edu.
