To be eligible for the Charles Pickering Honors Institute, students must have a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and meet one of the following entrance requirements:
- Graduate as the valedictorian or salutatorian.
- Have a composite ACT score of 26 or higher with a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4 point scale.
- Have a composite ACT score of 25 with a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4 point scale and place in the top 10% of high school graduating class.
- Have a cumulative Jones County Junior College GPA of 3.5 or higher, with a minimum of 12 credit hours, excluding college preparatory courses.
Students cannot simultaneously enroll in the Honors Institute and in a remedial course. Students must complete all remedial work prior to enrollment in the Honors Institute.
The Honors Institute will not accept students, or allow them to continue in the Institute, if there are five or more Jones withdrawals on the student's transcript.
