Path to Becoming a Bobcat

New Students

Visit Jones College

While this step is optional we would love for you to come and experience all that Jones College has to offer. Campus visits begin with student led tours by our Bobcat Brigade, student recruiters. Once you see our beautiful campus, you will have an opportunity to sit down with an Enrollment Services team member for an overview of admissions, scholarships, campus life, and other aspects of being a Jones College student. Schedule your visit today and come experience a day in the life of a Bobcat!

Complete the Online Application for Admissions

Your next step to becoming a Jones student is to complete the online Application for Admission. Once an admissions application has been processed, students will be mailed an admissions packet and receive an email and text from their Admissions Counselor. Initial acceptance into the college will be communicated to the email address and text #’s submitted within the student’s application along with being sent to the newly created Jones email.

Financial Aid

Completing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a priority! The FAFSA is a tool used to determine your financial aid eligibility, including Pell grants and student loans, and should be filed (submitted) online at fafsa.ed.gov. It should be completed early, with the recommended deadline in June each year. Remember that the new award year begins every October 1st!

Connect with your Admissions Counselor

The transition to college can be difficult and intimidating at times! Once your application has been processed, your Admissions Counselor will reach out to you frequently through your Jones email account. They will guide you through admissions and financial aid process and create your class schedule. Keep in touch with your counselor and ask questions along the way.

Submit Your Transcripts

You will need to request an official copy of your final high school transcript to be sent to the Jones College Office of Admissions after graduation. Students are not fully admitted to Jones until all official transcripts have been received.

Submit your ACT score

Take the ACT/SAT and request scores be sent to Jones. Each college and university is assigned a college code that you will supply for ACT testing. The JCJC code is 2206. A Residual ACT through Jones is offered throughout the year. Contact the Terrell Tisdale Library at 601-477-4055 for testing dates or additional information.

Create Your Class Schedule

You can create your class schedule several ways.

  • A face-to-face appointment in Enrollment Services

  • A phone appointment

  • By emailing your Admissions Counselor from your Jones email account

Returning Students

All current students at Jones are eligible for enrollment and academic advisement through their faculty advisor. The faculty advisement period is from the first open date of enrollment to the start of exam week each semester. Open Enrollment dates will be communicated to students in a variety of ways.

Students will receive enrollment instructions from their faculty advisor prior to the first date of open enrollment via Jones email and/or the student Advisement Class in Canvas. You can confirm who your faculty advisor is by logging in to your student account in PeopleSoft.

Returning students who are clear with the Business Office will receive priority registration. Faculty advisors will create student schedules and students can make changes as needed.

Once the faculty advisement period closes at the start of exam week, Admissions Counselors in Enrollment Services will be the contact for enrollment, schedule changes and academic advisement. Enrollment Services is located on the first floor of the Terrell Tisdale Library. If you have further questions, please call (601) 477-4257 to speak to an Admissions Counselor or visit Enrollment Services to connect with your Admissions Counselor by email.
