DESCRIPTION: Sets up and operates lathes to fabricate
metal parts to be fitted and assembled into complete units. Studies blueprints, drawings, and specifications
to determine tolerance of finished work piece, sequence of operation and
setup requirements. Measures, marks
and scribes dimensions and reference points on material as guides. Selects, aligns and secures holding
fixtures, cutting tools, and material on machine. Calculates and set controls to regulate
machining factors (example: speed,
feed, coolant flow, depth, angle of cut, etc…). Start and observes machine operation to
detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and makes adjustments as
necessary. Verifies conformance of
finished work piece to specification, using precision instruments. |
