FOREST – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats won the Division III part of the East Central Community College Invitational at Forest Country Club here on a very cold Sunday.

JCJC posted a 329-344 – 673, while Southwest was second at 378-376 – 754.

Gulf Coast won the overall crown with a 296-295 – 591. Northeast was second at 301-309 – 610, while East Mississippi was third with a 306-307 – 613. Co-Lin was fourth at 302-312 – 614.

For JCJC, Mitchell Smith led the way with a 78-80 – 158, while Nick Keyes was at 79-80 – 159. Ben Whitehead shot an 83-88 – 171 and Chase Powell was at 89-96 – 185. Clarke Boatner shot 92-DQ. Rocky Purvis was at 100-90 – 190.

Corey Ward of Gulf Coast was the tournament medalist with a 73-70 – 143, edging out first-round leader Ryan Ratcliff of Co-Lin, who shot a 69-75 – 144. Richie Williams of Gulf Coast was third with a 74-73 – 147.

The next stop on the MACJC circuit will be March 8-9 in the Co-Lin Community College Invitational at Wolf Hollow Golf Club in Wesson. That will count as the MACJC Division III Tournament.
