HATTIESBURG – Former Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcat Pauline Love continues to make her mark on Southern Miss basketball.

Love, who starred as a freshman at JCJC during the 2006-07 season, was named to the All-Conference USA first-team earlier this week. The 6-foot junior forward from Luxora, Ark., was also a first-team All-CUSA choice as a sophomore.

This year, Love is averaging a ‘double-double’ with 15.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. She is one of only three players in the league to average a ‘double-double’ and led the conference with 19 this season.

She scored a season-high 28 points twice against Cal State-Northridge and Nicholls State and had at least 20 points in five games. She is shooting 46.5 percent from the floor.

As a member of head coach Sandra Sumrall’s Lady Bobcat team, Love also averaged a ‘double-double’ with 15.2 points and 13.6 rebounds per game. She also led Southern Miss in scoring and rebounding as a sophomore.

Love and the Lady Eagles will open play in the Conference USA Tournament at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Fogelman Arena on the campus of Tulane University in New Orleans. Southern Miss, 18-11, will take on the winner of Thursday night’s Tulane//Tulsa contest.

The CUSA championship game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday and will be televised by ESPN2.
