ELLISVILLE – Co-Lin overcame a 2-0 deficit with a three-run, sixth inning and went on to defeat Jones County Junior College 3-2 here Sunday afternoon in game one at Lady Bobcat Field.

In the nightcap, the Lady Wolves beat the Lady Bobcats, 13-1 in six innings.

Jones is now 5-15 overall, 2-8 in South Division play. The Lady Bobcats are at Meridian for two games on Tuesday, beginning at 3 p.m. JCJC goes to Pearl River on Thursday in a makeup doubleheader at 5 p.m. and returns home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. twinbill vs. Gulf Coast.

Co-Lin improves to 18-7 overall, 9-3 in division play. The Lady Wolves go to Gulf Coast on Tuesday.

Lady Wolves 3, Lady Bobcats 2

JCJC took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Shana Ladner led off with a double and Candace Leach belted a two-run home run over the left field fence.

The lead stood until the sixth when Missy Paulina led off with a walk for Co-Lin and Rebecca Rousseau doubled to right. Chelsey Miller then walked to load the bases with no outs. Terri Hodges then hit a ground ball and the Lady Bobcats threw home for the force out, but it was too late and a run scored.

After a strikeout, Daniele Wilson delivered a two-run single to put the Lady Wolves up 3-2.

The Lady Bobcats had a chance in the bottom of the sixth when Leach singled with two outs. Brittney Arnold then hit a ball into shallow left field. Wilson, the Co-Lin shortstop, went back and Candace Avants, the leftfielder, ran in. The ball deflected off of Wilson’s glove and Avants made the catch to end the inning.

Katie Holifield went the distance and took the tough-luck loss for JCJC. She scattered seven hits and fanned seven.

Leach homered and singled, while Elisha Ray singled twice for the Lady Bobcats. Ladner had a double and Katie Alderman added a single.

Rousseau went the distance and got the win for Co-Lin.

Miller and Hodges each singled twice, while Roussea doubled for the Lady Wolves. Wilson and Paulina had singles.

Co-Lin led 3-0 after two, 5-0 after three, 8-1 after four and ended the game with a five-run, sixth inning.

JCJC’s offensive highlight was a home run by Devin Darr in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ladner and Alderman added singles.

Falon Nettles went the distance and took the loss.

Hodges started, went the first four innings and posted the victory for Co-Lin. Melissa McFarland tossed the final two innings.

Monea Cameron singled three times, while Holly Smith had a three-run home run and singled for Co-Lin. Devon Welch had a double, while Ashley Jones, Hodges, Avants, Brittany Watts and DeeDee Walker added singles.
