ELLISVILLE – Katie Holifield struck out seven and scattered six hits to lead Jones County Junior College to a 2-0 victory over Pearl River Community College here Friday afternoon in game one.
In game two, the Lady Wildcats posted an 11-3, five-inning decision.
JCJC is 6-16 overall, 3-9 in the South Division. The Lady Bobcats host Gulf Coast at 1 p.m. on Saturday and travel to East Central at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Pearl River is now 19-7 overall, 8-2 in the division.
Lady Bobcats 2, Lady Wildcats 0
JCJC scored in the second inning when J.J. Taylor singled and later scored on a Monica Shoemake groundout. The Lady Bobcats added a run in the fourth when Shana Nicholson walked and scored on a double by Candace Leach.
Shana Ladner doubled and singled for JCJC, while Taylor had two singles. Leach had a double and Kirsten Perry added a single.
Katie Barrett took the loss for Pearl River.
Baleigh Volking doubled and singled twice, while Casie Russell doubled. Corinne Fraychineaud and Mykeal Maes had singles.
Lady Wildcats 11, Lady Bobcats 3
Pearl River scored four runs in the second and seven more in the third to take an 11-0 lead. JCJC scored all of its runs in the fourth inning.
Elisha Ray doubled and singled and drove in two runs to lead the Lady Bobcats. Leach, Ladner, Brittney Arnold, Kristen McDonald and Katie Alderman had singles for Jones.
Falon Nettles took the loss.
Mayes doubled twice for PRCC, while Miranda Blanchet, Bethany Russell, Casie Russell and Volking each doubled and singled. Lauren Locke had a double and Megan Brooks singled.
Molly Stell was the winning pitcher.
