HOLLY SPRINGS –The Co-Lin Community College Wolves claimed the MACJC State Golf Tournament here Tuesday afternoon at Kirkwood National Golf Club.
The Wolves posted a 329-326 – 655 to claim the championship. Gulf Coast was second with a 336-330 – 666, followed by East Mississippi at 334-335 – 669, Northeast Mississippi at 336-334 ¬– 670 and Hinds at 333-338 – 671.
Those five teams will compete in the Region 23 (Division II) Tournament at the Mississippi State University Golf Course in Starkville on April 27-28.
Elliott Bingham of Hinds took medalist honors with a 79-79 – 158, followed by Derin Petite of Co-Lin at 76-83 – 159 and Alex Rowland of Itawamba at 84-76 – 160.
The Jones County Junior College Bobcats were 11th overall in the tournament with a 374-398 – 772.
Nick Keyes led JCJC with a 92-91 – 183, followed by Clark Boatner at 92-91 – 186, Ben Whitehead at 98-103 – 201, Chase Powell at 97-106 – 203 and Rocky Purvis at 114-105 – 219.
The Bobcats captured the Region 23 Division III title earlier this spring and are scheduled to participate in the NJCAA National Championship June 1-5 at Chautauqua Golf Club in Chautauqua, N.Y.
