ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College men’s tennis team routed Holmes Community College 9-0 here Wednesday afternoon.

Holmes did not field a women’s team.

The Bobcats improve to 10-3 on the season and will host Co-Lin in another men’s only match at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Both JCJC teams return to the court with 2 p.m. matches at home on Monday vs. Hinds and on Tuesday against East Central. That will conclude regular season play.

The draw for the MACJC State Tournament will take place Wednesday, April 15, in Hattiesburg. The state tournament will be held April 16-18 at the Tatum Park Tennis Courts in Hattiesburg.

Bobcats 9, Bulldogs 0

Casey Dykes and Mitchell Smith of Jones took No. 1 doubles over Trey Woods and Mac Vaughn, 8-1. JCJC’s Cody Kadoun and Eric Lynn claimed No. 3 doubles over Erik Walton and Jacob Buchanan, 8-1. Nathan Kanengiser and Tyler Shows of Jones won No. 2 doubles by forfeit.

Smith won No. 3 singles over Joseph Pinkard, 6-0, 6-0. Kadoun captured No. 4 singles over Vaughn, 6-2, 6-3. Lynn whipped Walton in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Kanengiser blanked Buchanan, 6-0, 6-0 in No. 6 singles.

Dykes captured No. 1 singles over Woods, 4-4, (retired because of injury) and Shows took No. 2 singles by forfeit.
