MERIDIAN – Jones County Junior College swept Meridian Community College in softball action here Tuesday.
JCJC won game one, 8-1, and game two, 13-1 in five innings. The games were originally scheduled March 31, but were postponed by rain.
The Lady Bobcats are now 10-20 and have won four games in a row.
JCJC plays its final home games at 4 p.m. on Wednesday against Pearl River. They close the regular season with an 11 a.m. doubleheader at Southwest on Saturday and a 4 p.m. twinbill on Monday at Co-Lin.
In Tuesday’s game one victory, Katie Holifield tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts. Shana Ladner led the Lady Bobcats with three singles, while Candace Leach had a double and two RBIs. Rebekah Langley and Elisha Ray added singles. Shana Nicholson and Devin Darr had RBIs.
In game two, Falon Nettles posted the victory, going four innings and giving up just four hits. Katie Alderman pitched the final inning and did not allow a hit.
J.J. Taylor homered, singled and drove in three runs to lead JCJC. Brittney Arnold doubled and singled, while Darr had two singles. Kasey McCann added a double, while Kirsten Perry, Ladner and Kristen McDonald had singles.
