ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College recorded a pair of victories over East Central Community College here Tuesday afternoon at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The JCJC men’s team beat the Warriors, 11-1, while the Lady Bobcats posted a 9-0 shutout.
The Bobcat men are now 9-3 overall, 6-2 in South Division play. The Lady Bobcats are 8-4 and 5-3.
JCJC hosts Southwest on Friday and closes regular season play at home on Wednesday, Oct. 21, vs. Co-Lin. The men’s games begin at 1 p.m., followed by the women’s games at 3 p.m.
In the men’s game, Johnny Jones scored five goals for the Bobcats in a 32-minute span of the second half. JCJC also had two goals from Tyler Zugg and one goal each from Mackenzie Johnson, Patrick Coates, Chip Vonder Bruegge and Juan Benitez. Julio Espinosa had four assists for the Bobcats, while Jones and Coates had two each. Ryan Ashley, Jerrett Chism and Chris Moncivais each had an assist. The Bobcats led 4-1 at halftime. In the women’s game, JCJC had two goals each Lanie Jenkins and Janna Sullivan and one goal each from Lauren Williams, Dana Ivey, Lenzi Weems, Arlette Cochran and Aubrey Weems. Cochran and Jamie Miller had two assists each, while Williams, Jenkins, Weems and Sullivan each had an assist. The Lady Bobcats were up 6-0 at halftime.
