ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College standout Brandon Wilson has been named a second-team NJCAA Basketball Preseason All-American.
Wilson, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound sophomore from Carroll High School in Rayville, La., averaged 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds as a freshman last year at Jones. He shot 66.1 percent from the field and helped head coach Don “Bubba” Skelton’s team achieve a 24-5 record and a MACJC state championship.
Wilson will be matched up against the only other player from Mississippi to be named to the squad when the Bobcats open the season on Monday at East Mississippi. EMCC’s Coco Ware is also a second-team preseason All-American selection.
Wilson and the Bobcats will make their home debut on Thursday, Nov. 5, when they host Delgado Community College (La.). The women’s game start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
