POPLARVILLE – Fifth-ranked Jones County Junior College scored four runs in the first inning and pitcher Andrew Pierce held Pearl River scoreless until the seventh as the Bobcats beat the Wildcats 6-2 here on a blustery Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Field in game one of a doubleheader.

HATTIESBURG – Northeast Jones sophomore Cory Williams threw a five-hit shutout to lead Jones County Junior College to a 2-0 victory over Southwest Mississippi Community here Monday afternoon at Pete Taylor Park on the Southern Miss campus in game two of a doubleheader.
In game one, the Bears scored a pair unearned runs in the top of the tenth inning and defeated the Bobcats, 4-2.

RAYMOND – Jones County Junior College split a pair of games with Hinds Community College here Saturday afternoon in women’s softball.
JCJC won the opener 10-6 and lost the nightcap, 9-1 in five innings.
The Lady Bobcats are now 8-15 overall, 1-3 in South Division play.

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College tennis teams continue to excel.
The Lady Bobcats defeated Pearl River Community College 8-1 and the JCJC men downed the Wildcats 7-2 here on a gorgeous Friday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex.
The Lady Bobcats are now 6-0, while the men improve to 5-1.

SCOOBA – Four Jones County Junior College pitchers combined on a five-inning, no-hitter in a 21-0 rout of Hibbing Community College (Minn.) here Friday afternoon at Gerald Poole Field.
In JCJC’s second game of the day, the Bobcats scored five runs in the first inning en route to a 6-2 victory over East Mississippi Community College.

DECATUR – East Central Community College swept Jones County Junior College here in softball action Thursday night.
The Lady Warriors took the opener 7-1 and won the nightcap, 5-3. The games were moved to ECCC because of wet grounds at Merchant Park in Ellisville. The April 9 games originally scheduled for Decatur will now be played at Merchant Park.

ELLISVILLE – The East Central Community College vs. Jones County Junior College softball doubleheader, which was scheduled for today at 4 p.m. at Merchant Park, will now be played at 5 p.m. at Decatur.
The game was swapped because of wet grounds at Merchant Park. The two teams were scheduled to play April 9 at East Central, but those games will now be played in Ellisville at 3 p.m.

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College standout Andrew Pierce has been named the NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 1-7.
Pierce, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound standout from Stringer High School, earned the honor after tossing a no-hitter in a 4-0 victory over Mississippi Delta Community College on March 6 in Moorhead. Pierce had a perfect game through six innings before hitting the leadoff man in the seventh. The runner was then erased on a double play and Pierce ended up facing the minimum of 21 batters.

Carmichael is a 6-foot-2, 250-pound tight end from Northeast Jones.

ELLISVILLE – Wednesday’s scheduled softball doubleheader between Jones County Junior College and East Central Community College has been postponed because of wet grounds.
The games will now be played at 4 and 6 p.m. on Thursday at Merchant’s Park. It will be the South Division opener for JCJC.

CLINTON – A pair of former Jones County Junior College Bobcat baseball standouts now playing for Mississippi College have been honored by the American Southwest Conference for their play during the week of March 2-6.
Christopher Glaze was named the ASC East Division’s Hitter of the Week and Tyler Seaman was named the ASC’s East Division Pitcher of the Week. Both are seniors at MC.

BROOKHAVEN – Jones County Junior College finished ninth in the Co-Lin Community College Invitational here Tuesday on a rainy day at Brookhaven Country Club.
The Bobcats were tenth after Monday’s round at Wolf Hollow Golf Club on the Co-Lin campus, but moved up to pass Pearl River in Tuesday’s round. JCJC shot a 342-325 – 667, while PRCC posted a 341-327 – 668.

ELLISVILLE – Heavy rains have postponed Tuesday’s Jones County Junior College vs. Hibbing Community College (Minn.) baseball games.
The games were scheduled to be played at Co-Lin Community College in Wesson.
The Bobcats have now re-scheduled one of the Hibbing games and have added another vs. East Mississippi Community College.
