SCOOBA – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats knocked off the 27th-ranked East Mississippi Community College Lady Lions 70-65 here Monday night at Currie Coliseum in the season opener for both schools.
In the men's game, East Mississippi posted a 90-84 victory.

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College knew they could not make turnovers and give up big plays in the MACJC semifinals vs. East Mississippi Community College.
But turnovers, big plays and mistakes hurt the 19th-ranked Bobcats, as they dropped a 26-16 decision to the Lions here at Sullivan-Windham Field on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College enjoyed tremendous success in the 2008-09 men’s basketball season.
The Bobcats won the state championship, advanced to the Region 23 quarterfinals and posted an impressive 24-5 record.
But they lose nine players off of that team and return only three sophomores with a lot of playing time. However, second-year head coach Don Skelton is quite pleased with his group of returning sophomores.

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats enjoyed a banner season last year.
In fact, the Lady Bobcats won the MACJC championship, advanced to the Region 23 semifinals and posted an impressive 23-7 record. Eleventh-year head coach Sandra Sumrall hopes this year’s team can use last year’s championship to its advantage.

ELLISVILLE – A couple of thousand princesses, Dorothy’s, goblins and ghouls filled the Jones County Junior College campus at the annual Treats in the Streets. Part of the festivities included costume contests for babies to teens, honoring the most creative kids with treats from JCJC.

ELLISVILLE – Basketball was the main topic at Jones County Junior College here on campus Thursday afternoon.
The school held its annual “Basketball Media Day” in Bobcat Gymnasium. Lady Bobcat head coach Sandra Sumrall and men’s head coach Don Skelton were on hand to discuss the upcoming season. Pictures of both teams and all of the players were taken, along with video. A video special on JCJC Basketball Media Day will air soon on www.jcjc.tv.

ELLISVILLE – Postseason play is here for the Jones County Junior College Bobcats.
JCJC, ranked No. 19 in the latest NJCAA/JCfootball.com poll, travels to Scooba to meet the eighth-rated East Mississippi Community College Lions on Saturday.
Kickoff is at 2 p.m. and JCJC school officials are hoping to show the game live on www.jcjc.tv. That will not be determined until the production staff is able to test equipment prior to kickoff at Sullivan-Windham Field. The game will air on WGDQ-FM, 93.1, with the pregame show beginning at 1:30 p.m.

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College standout Brandon Wilson has been named a second-team NJCAA Basketball Preseason All-American.
Wilson, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound sophomore from Carroll High School in Rayville, La., averaged 17.3 points and 7.7 rebounds as a freshman last year at Jones. He shot 66.1 percent from the field and helped head coach Don “Bubba” Skelton’s team achieve a 24-5 record and a MACJC state championship.

ELLISVILLE – It’s not just an opinion to say D.A. Autry is having a good season at linebacker for Jones County Junior College.
It’s all there in black and white.
Autry, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound sophomore from Mize, leads the Bobcats in tackles with 63 solo tackles, 30 assists and 93 total tackles. That’s good enough for fourth in the state, as well.

ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College is ranked No. 19 in the latest NJCAA/JCfootball.com poll, which was released Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats, 6-3, were rated No. 14 last week before falling Saturday to fifth-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 20-17 in a game that determined the MACJC South Division crown.

RAYMOND – Hinds Community College edged Jones County Junior College 2-1 here Saturday in the men's MACJC Soccer Tournament semifinals.
The Eagles led 2-0 at halftime. The Bobcats got a goal from Patrick Coates on a penalty kick in the second half, but came up short.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs edged the Jones County Junior College Bobcats 20-17 before around 4,000 fans in a game that decided the MACJC South Division championship.
