Selections for the nursing program are made by the A.D. Nursing Admissions Committee using a point system based upon objective data including GPA, academic courses completed and ACT scores.  Other factors utilized for scoring purposes are :  being on previous year's alternate list, being an LPN (licensed practical nurse), district resident (Jones, Perry, Wayne, Covington, Jasper, Greene, Clarke, and Smith Counties) and a current  JCJC student.  Science courses are given a higher point value than are other academic courses.  Applicants are ranked according to their total points.  In the case of a tie GPA and ACT scores will be used.  Should a tie still exist, the in-district applicant will be given preference, further ties will be resolved by random drawings. The number of students selected is may vary each semester. The remainder of the qualified applicants will be placed on an alternate list.  Should a vacancy occur in the class, the alternate with the next highest number of points will be notified of their acceptance into the program. Interested persons may start making application during spring semester for the following fall class. Applications will be accepted through March 1 for the fall.  Candidates chosen for the fall or spring classes  will be notified by letter after all candidates are reviewed.
