CURRICULUM:
The ADN core courses are listed below.
The core courses must be completed PRIOR to application.
The length of the LPN-to-RN option is one year from the point of entering Nursing Transition.
I. CORE COURSES:
BIO 2514 Anatomy and Physiology I (4 hrs)
BIO 2524 Anatomy and Physiology II (4 hrs)
PSY 1513 General Psychology (3 hrs)
FCS 1253 Nutrition (3 hrs)
EPY 2533 Human Growth & Development (3 hrs)
MAT 1233 Intermediate Algebra or
MAT 1313
College Algebra (3 hrs)
BIO 2924 Microbiology (3 hrs)
ENG 1113 English Composition I (3 hrs)
ENG 1123 English Composition II (3 hrs)
SPT 1113 Speech (3 hrs)
Total hours for Academic courses: 33 hrs.
Beginning in Spring 2008, all applicants will be required to take the National League for Nursing Accelerated Challenge Exams (NLN-ACE I) prior to admission to the Fast-Track option. A minimum score of 75% is required on this test to be considered for admission to the class; however, the 75% does not guarantee admission. The cost of the exams (2 exams) is $100.00. Following review of your application, a letter will be provided with instructions on how this fee is to be paid. DO NOT pay this fee prior to receiving the letter. REQUIREMENTS:
1. Be admitted to Jones County Junior College.
2. Present evidence of graduation from an accredited high
school or satisfactory achievement on the General Educational Development Test (GED).
3. Have a composite score of 18 or equivalent on the ACT.
4. Have a completed LPN to RN application for admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Attach copies of unencumbered LPN license with IV certification.
5. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on all previous college work.
6. Submit transcripts on all previous college work. Completion of all core courses is required with a grade of C or above.
7. Submit a written recommendation from your nursing supervisor.
8. After acceptance into the A.D. Nursing Program, the following is required:
a. Physical examination.
b. Two step Tuberculosis skin test
or follow-up by the State Board
of Health.
c. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) current certification.
d. Certificate of compliance for immunizations.
e. Hepatitis B vaccination or declination statement.
f. Clear criminal background check.
g. Completion of an interview and orientation session. |
