Purposes/Functions
As a local chapter of the state MASN, we uphold and abide by the bylaws, purposes and functions of the state organization. For more information about the state MASN, please visit their website. 

Our local chapter also has its own set of bylaws which describe the purposes and functions of our club as follows:

Purposes:

  • To assume responsibility for contributing to nursing education in order to provide for the highest quality health care.
  • To provide programs representative of fundamental and current professional interests and concerns.
  • To aid in the development of the whole person, and his/her responsibility for the healthcare of people in all walks of life.
Functions:
  • To have direct input into standards of nursing education and influence the education process.
  • To influence health care, nursing education and practice through legislative activities as appropriate.
  • To promote and encourage participation in community affairs and activities towards improved health care and the resolution of related social issues.
  • To represent nursing students to the consumer, to institutions, and other organizations.
  • To promote and encourage students' participation in interdisciplinary activities.
  • To promote and encourage recruitment efforts, participation in student activities, and educational opportunities, regardless of person's race, color, creed, sex, lifestyle, national origin, age or economic status.
  • To promote and encourage collaborative relationships with nursing and related health care organizations.



Membership/Dues

Membership is open to any students enrolled in the Jones County Junior College Associate Degree Nursing program, as well as pre-nursing students who are enrolled in prerequisite courses for nursing.  Pre-nursing students will have all the privileges of membership except the right to hold office.

Dues are $28.00 for the first year, then $38.00 for the second year, which grant membership in the state, local and national chapter, which is the National Student Nurses Association.  Dues may be paid by your grant--check with SNO advisors and the Business Office. Your SNO fees includes this membership!
