Jones County Junior College
Chapter of
MOSA
(Mississippi Organization for Associate
Degree Nursing Student Organization)

Purposes/Functions
*The primary purpose and function of MOSA is to promote associate degree nursing as entry into nursing practice.  The value and competence of associate degree registered nurses has been proven throughout the years since the first graduates of these type programs began practicing in the mid-1950s.  Through networking and educating the public and other health care providers, MOSA strives to advance the awareness and appreciation of associate degree nursing into the 21st century.  For more information about our parent organization, please visit the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (N-OADN) website! Also visit the MOSA web site!

Membership/Dues
*Membership is open to all students enrolled in the associate degree nursing program at Jones, as well as all students enrolled in pre-nursing courses.  Dues are $20.00 per year, which include local, state and national dues.

Meetings

Meetings are held approximately every other week during fall and spring semesters. Dates and times for meetings are posted at least a week in advance in the Allied Health building.  Meetings generally last between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on issues to be discussed.  Seminars and workshops are occasionally planned which are helpful to nursing students.  Past topics have included Test-taking Tips, Physical Assessment, and Math Calculation.
