Special Techniques for Math & Science

A.  Translate problems into English - "The square of the hypotenuse
of a right triangle is equal to the squares of the other two sides."

B.  Perform opposite  operations: check by dividing, multiplying.

C.  Use time drills-practice working problems fast.

D.  Analyze before you compute-see the problem clearly.

E.  Make a picture-draw an elaborate, color picture or diagram if you
are stuck.  Sometimes a visual representation will clear a blocked
        mind.

F.  Estimate first-good way to double check.  If your answer is way off,
        you know it's probably wrong.

G.  Check your work systematically.  Ask yourself:
*Did I read the problem correctly?
*Did I use correct formulas or equations?
        *Is my arithmetic correct?
*Is my answer in proper form?

H.  Review formulas the night before the test.  Then write them in the
margins of the test paper as soon as you receive it.

I.  In nursing:  It is important to know metric, apothecary and household
        measurements.
