Automotive Machinist Program

The Automotive Machinist Program provides instruction in the use of precision measuring instruments, hand tools, as well as both manual and automated equipment. Proper methods of disassembly and assembly are covered in depth. Diagnostic and repair procedures for both gasoline and diesel engines are covered. All areas of cylinder head repair are covered including crack repair and high performance modifications. Cylinder block repair includes training in boring, sleeve installation, honing, and align boring for both stock and high performance applications. Crankshaft welding, straightening, stress relieving, grinding and balancing are included. Related areas of instruction include welding procedures for both iron and aluminum castings. A variety of engine types and makes from automotive to industrial, air cooled to liquid cooled, diesel to gasoline are studied.
