CONCERT CHOIR
JCJC Concert Choir
The Concert Choir is the primary choral organization at Jones Junior College. It consists of students from a number of areas across campus life, most of whom are not music majors. The Choir has made two performances in New York City's famed Carnegie Hall, debuting in the spring of 1995 and returning in 1999. Also, the Choir has performed in Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. In addition to touring the state of Mississippi, the choir has made regional tours of the United States and has traveled abroad singing in England, Scotland, and France. The choir has also performed with the Atlanta Ballet, the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, the New England Symphonic Ensemble, the Kent (Michigan) Philharmonia Orchestra, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. Also, the choir has been privileged to premiere new music and has made three recordings.

Mark A. Taylor
Mark A. Taylor, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, is the Director of Choral Activities. He holds the Doctor of Arts in Music Education and a Master of Music in Applied Vocal Performance from the University of Mississippi. His Bachelor of Music Education was received from the University of Southern Mississippi. In the spring of 1995, Dr. Taylor made his Carnegie Hall conducting debut with MidAmerica Productions and returned during the spring of 1999 to conduct the Jones Concert Choir and New England Symphonic Ensemble. He has also prepared choirs for the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Atlanta Ballet, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kent (Michigan) Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. In addition to conducting the Concert Choir, Dr. Taylor is Dean of the Charles Pickering Honors Institute and Dean of Campus Life.. He is a member of American Choral Directors Association, Music Teachers National Association, Mississippi Music Teachers Association, and the College Music Society. He is active as an adjudicator, clinician, and church musician. Dr. Taylor and his wife Leshia reside in Ellisville and have two sons.
