Recital Class

CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Required performance of solo and ensemble literature by students majoring in music. Attendance at departmentally approved performances also required.
COURSE CREDIT AND CLASS MEETING TIMES: 1 semester hour credit; 1 one hour meeting per week or as scheduled by Department Chair; every semester.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: A. To provide students ample opportunity to perform. B. To provide students the opportunity to hear performances of live music. C. To provide an opportunity to disseminate pertinent information to both music students and faculty.
EVALUATION PROCEDURES: Students must attend ALL weekly recital class meetings and off-campus and/or recital series concerts per semester to receive credit. Absentee policy will be the same as that of your private lessons. Students must attend THREE APPROVED outside concerts IN ADDITION to other required performances (faculty recitals, choir and band concerts, and the spring drama production). Students may meet this requirement by attending the Spring Recital Series concerts offered at JCJC. To receive credit for concert attendance, the student must bring a signed program or other departmentally approved credit form from the event to the division chair on the next regular school day. All music majors must attend at least one JCJC choral performance and one JCJC instrumental concert per semester and must attend the spring musical. Students must attend ALL faculty recitals an at least ONE sophomore recital (spring only).
