LPN NURSING ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission to The Practical Nursing Program is selective.

JONES COUNTY JUNIOR COLLEGE PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicant must meet general admission requirements of Jones County Junior College.
  2. Applicant must be at least 18 years old prior to the completion of the program.
  3. Applicant must submit a completed practical nursing program application packet to the Practical Nursing office prior to the deadline date for the class in which they are applying. Incomplete application packets will not be accepted. Each packet must include:
    1. A completed practical nursing program application.- LPN Application
    2. High school transcript or GED scores (copies sent to Admissions and to PN program)
    3. Transcript of any college credit or certificate of any health occupation training program
    4. ACT composite score of 16 or above with a minimum of 14 on Reading, Math, and English (copies sent to Admissions and the PN program)
    5. NET (Nursing Entrance Test) given on JCJC campus. (Study Guide for NET may be purchased in the bookstore.)
      DEADLINE DATES
      2nd Friday in October for the Spring classes which begin in January
      2nd Friday in May for the Fall classes which begin in August
  4. Applicants must score at or above the 50th percentile on the NET to be considered for the program.
  5. The Vocational Guidance staff will administer the NET.
    1. NET (Nursing Entrance Test) will be given in the Home and Health Auditorium prior to program start dates. (Test dates to be announced. On test date, bring #2 pencil a photo ID).
    2. Procedure for NET:
      1. Student will purchase, at the JCJC Bookstore, a NET answer sheet (estimated cost is; $25.00)
  6. Selection of students for the Practical Nursing Program is based upon ACT and NET scores. Students selected must provide a physical exam form completed by a physician. (Note: Admission to the PN Program is competitive and these requirements are minimum. Students meetings these requirements are not guaranteed admission to the PN Program.)

A FBI background check will be required after admission into the program.

*Official copies of transcripts, diplomas, GED scores and ACT scores must also be sent to the JCJC Admissions Office.
