JCJC Math Bowl
JCJC Math Bowl
In a continuing effort to spotlight the academic talent of our area’s best and brightest high school math students, the Math Division of Jones County Junior College will host its third annual math bowl on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the Ronald E. Whitehead Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in the Howard Technology Park, located in Ellisville, Mississippi. Coordinated and directed by Jessica Bunch and assisted by all instructors of the Math Division, the JCJC Math Bowl creates a stage of competition among high school math teams from JCJC’s eight county district in topics ranging from percents, fractions, probability, statistics, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, to calculus.
Senior students on the first and second place teams of our competition receive scholarship awards which may be applied to expenses at JCJC and will be given in addition to any scholarships these students have already received or will receive at Jones. In the recent past, we have been able to present additional awards to our competitors and their faculty sponsors courtesy of our partners in the business community, as well as JCJC’s chapter of Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society).
We look forward to hosting the JCJC Math Bowl for many years to come. If you have any questions regarding our competition, feel free to contact Jessica Bunch (jessica.bunch@jcjc.edu) for more information.
