CHEMISTRY

CHE 1114 - General Chemistry Survey (Basic)

Designed for students whose preparation in chemistry is inadequate for regular college chemistry. This course includes a study of the physical properties of chemicals, their fundamental properties, laws, and theories. Three hours of lecture and two hours of laboratory per week. Four semester hours credit.

CHE 1214 - General Chemistry I

This course covers the fundamental laws and theories of chemistry, their mathematical application and a study of descriptive chemistry. Three hours lecture and two hours laboratory per week. Four semester hours credit.

CHE 1224 - General Chemistry II

Prerequisite: CHE 1214. This course continues the fundamental laws and theories of chemistry, their mathematical applications; including a study of energetics, dynamics and qualitative analysis. Three hours lecture and two laboratory per week. Four semester hours credit.

CHE 2424 - Organic Chemistry I

Prerequisite: CHE 1224. A systematic study of organic chemistry including aliphatic and heterocyclic compounds: nomenclature, reaction mechanisms, and stereochemistry. Three hours lecture and two hours laboratory per week. Four semester hours credit.

CHE 2434 - Organic Chemistry II

Prerequisite: CHE 2424. A systematic study of organic chemistry including aromatic compounds, acids, acid derivatives, aldehydes, ketones, amines, and spectroscopic analysis. Three hours lecture and two hours laboratory per week. Four semester hours credit.
