HEC 1112 – Social Usage (Social and Professional Development)
This course is designed to help the student develop competencies in social interactions. Emphasis is placed on essentials of good manners, introductions, conversations, funerals, table service appointments, types of entertainments, and business manners. Two semester hours credit.
HEC 1121 – Introduction to Home Economics
A survey of home economics designed to show the value of home economics in personal and family living as well as in professional opportunities. A requirement for all major areas of Home Economics. One semester hour credit.

HEC 1233 – Principles of Nutrition
This course is a study of principles involved in food selection, food preparation, and food buying. Emphasis is placed on nutritive value of foods, planning, preparing, and serving meals under typical home conditions. Three semester hours credit.
HEC 1253 – Nutrition – (For nursing or health related majors.)
This course is a study of nutrients required for normal growth, and applied to the selection of food for ingestion, metabolic processes of digestion, assimilation, and absorption. Three semester hours credit.
HEC 1313 – Elementary Clothing (Clothing Construction)
A study of art principles in dress with emphasis on personal analysis, construction skills and recognizing quality construction and selection in ready to wear. Garment is constructed in laboratory. Elective for non-major. Three semester hours credit.
