Sonography

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program consists of three semesters of didactic and clinical education leading to a Technical Certificate of Completion in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Application requirements are; either completion of a two year medical program (program must include clinical and patient care hour) or a bachelor’s degree and completion of all prerequisite courses. 

The technical component of the program includes: Introduction to Ultrasound, Sectional Anatomy, Physics and Instrumentation I & II, Clinical Imaging, Abdominal Sonography, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Advanced Sonographic Procedures, Examination Critique, and Sonography Seminar. Upon completion of the program, the student will be qualified to seek eligibility to sit for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography examination.

*Note: Diagnostic Medical Sonography students who did not receive a degree from their prior medical program upon completion, may complete the second year curriculum and earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree.
