And the winner is -- Myverick Garcia. As beautiful gowns and faces flowed across the stage so elegantly on November 13, each of the 42 contestants was anxious to see who would be crowned JCJC’s Most Beautiful.

Each year, the Mississippi Humanities Council chooses instructors at each of the junior/ community colleges in the state and presents them with the Humanities Teacher of the Year award.

Students visit MS Mistletoe Market
Seventeen Jones County Junior College Fashion Merchandising students attended the Jackson Mistletoe Market on November 6. Students met attending artists, authors and designers, and they took the opportunity to network with the 170 vendors for future job possibilities.

Poultry Association presents grant to JC
Jones County Junior College has been awarded the $7,000 Harold E. Ford Foundation grant from the Poultry Association. The college’s agriculture science program has received more money than Penn State and LSU and is the only junior college receiving this type of grant.

Treats in the Streets offers fun for all ages
Treats in the Streets is an annual event hosted for the community by the Student Government Association. Clubs, organizations and athletic teams from all across the JCJC campus man booths, play games and pass out enormous amounts of candy to thousands of area children.

Editorial: Americans vote for change

The Horticulture section of the Agricultural Science Department at JCJC has been growing a poinsettia crop for a couple of months now.

The Baptist Student Union has had a busy semester. The kicked off the year with its annual Back-to-School Party, and followed it up with another annual event, Survival Weekend.

Pierce pleased with Bobcats’ overall effort
The Bobcats wrapped up a 7-2 season on the gridiron, falling just short of a trip to the playoffs. Jones fell to No. 15 in the national football rankings following the final game of the season.

First half leads Jones past MS Delta
The No. 8 ranked Bobcats (7-1) (4-1) put up three touchdowns in the first half to defeat the Mississippi Delta Trojans (4-4) 27-7 in Moorhead at Jim Randall Stadium.

Bobcat basketball shows early dominance
Winning its first three games is obviously a great way for a team to begin a season. JCJC’s men’s basketball team has done just that, jumping out to a 3-0 start, which included a big win over the then 12th in the nation Itawamba Indians.
