Donors set record
One of the most heartwarming blood drives that has ever taken place at JCJC was held September 29 through October 1. The college dedicated the blood drive to a young boy whose mother is a student at Jones.

Ag students hear Powell
Students from the JCJC Agricultural Science Department attended the Leadership Summit hosted by Mississippi State University on September 24.

New building projects planned
Jones County Junior College has a lot on the blueprints for the near future. The biggest plan is the new Liberal Arts Center, which will be located on the south end of the old football field.

SKA comes to Jones campus
JCJC has recently established a new club, Sigma Kappa Alpha, better known as the Philosophy Club. The letters of Sigma Kappa Alpha, sophia kai arête, translate into wisdom and virtue.

Pageant set for Nov 13
It is that time again when the women of Jones County Junior College grab gorgeous gowns and get their hair and make-up done for one of the biggest events of the school year. Forty-one women have signed up to compete for the title of JCJC’s Most Beautiful, which was won last year by now sophomore Sicily Axton.

PTK inducts new members, builds float
On September 26, the Rho Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa inducted 21 new members into the International Honor Society.

SKA tutors local kids
Sigma Kappa Alpha is JCJC’s new Philosophy Club. Dr. Ronald Bishop, Stephanie Green, and Joanna Cooley, all instructors from the Humanities Department, sponsor SKA.

The Non-Traditional Student Association was very busy in October. Members participated in many club and campus activities.

The No. 8 ranked Bobcats (6-1) (4-1) look to end the regular season on a high note with a must win game against Gulf Coast Oct. 23 in Perk. JCJC Head Football Coach Eddie Pierce is pleased with his guys’ work thus far, but understands the task at hand.

Gray saves Cats in final seconds
Daniel Borne rushed for 105 yards and scored his eighth touchdown of the year as Anthony Jackson added 66 yards receiving and a touchdown to lead the No. 5 ranked Bobcats (4-0) (2-0) to a 42-35 home victory over East Central (0-4) (0-2).

James, Jackson spoil Eagles plans
The No. 4 ranked Bobcats (5-0) (3-0) looked to be leading the way with a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter.
