Victory in Georgia!![]() The scoreboard tells it all! |
The Bobcats of Jones County Junior College defeated Georgia Military College's Bulldogs 42-35 in the Sea Island Company Golden Isles Bowl on Saturday. In a game that saw two nationally ranked teams fight it out to the last minutes, one observer remarked that it was a "fan's game" with long passes, long runs, and lots of excitement.Jones lead 21-10 at half-time. GMC came back in the second half to tie Jones and then take the lead. With quick running on GMC's part, Jones clearly understood the Bulldogs' number 4 ranking in NCJAA polls. In the end GMC also understood Jones' number 3 ranking. The Bobcats came back to retake the lead and defend it in the last minutes of the game. A crucial interception by Jones stopped a GMC drive with just seconds left on the clock. This game ends a history-making season for Jones. No team has ever achieved 12 wins in one year. Although a national championship may well not be in offering for the Bobcats, they have left a mark that others can only hope for. Congratulations to Head Coach Parker Dykes, his coaching staff, and especially the Bobcat team for a perfect season. Click here to see a few bowl pictures Go to Bobcat Football |
