GENERAL EDUCATIONAL COMPETENCIES

Aesthetic Appreciation
Students will successfully interpret and analyze the meaning and structure of a creative work within its social and historical context.

Civic/Social Awareness
Students will demonstrate civic/social awareness through an understanding of the influence of social, cultural, economic, and political institutions in shaping human thought, value, and behavior.

Critical Thinking
Students will demonstrate competency in applying critical thinking skills to solve problems, make informed decisions and interpret events.

Mathematical Reasoning
Students will demonstrate competency in mathematical reasoning through mastery of understanding and reasoning necessary for solving math problems.

Oral Communication
Students will demonstrate competency in oral communication through the mastery organization and delivery of speeches and presentations.

Reading Comprehension
Students will demonstrate competency in applying critical reading strategies to evaluate, interpret, and analyze academic, technical, and other professional readings.

Scientific Understanding
Students will demonstrate mastery of the fundamental concepts of science, including but not limited to, the scientific method.

Technological Literacy
Students will demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology for acquiring, interpreting, evaluating, processing and communicating information to be utilized in making decisions and problem solving.

Written Communication
Students will demonstrate competency in written communication through mastery of the mechanics of writing and organizational skills.
