SCHOLARSHIP REGULATIONS

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Presidential - Awarded to Valedictorians and Salutatorians of Mississippi schools.
The Presidential scholarship assures coverage of full tuition, fees, $800 bookstore credit, and full Room & Board charges for students choosing to live in Campus Housing after all other scholarships and financial aid have been applied.  Scholarship good for four (4) semesters.  Scholarship may not be redeemed for cash value.

*PRESIDENTIAL recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA on 12 semester hours. 
*Scholarship MUST be accepted for fall semester immediately following high school graduation.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Academic Excellence –
Awarded to the top students in the graduating class of Mississippi high schools.  Scholarships available per school, based on Mississippi High School Activities Association classifications, are:

    • 6A- top 6 students (through top 12)
    • 5A – top 5 students (through top 10)
    • 4A – top 4 students (through top 8)
    • 3A – top 3 students (through top 6)
    • 2A & 1A – top 2 students (through top 4)

Academies –MHSAA classification most closely fitting enrollment.
*Scholarship MUST be accepted for fall semester immediately following high school graduation.

Career & Technical Excellence – Awarded to one Mississippi student at each of the nine vo-tech centers in the Jones’ eight county district.  The student must complete a vocational-technical program, must be a senior with a “B” average in their program, and must enroll in one of JCJC’s Career and Technical Programs.
*Scholarship MUST be accepted for fall semester immediately following high school graduation.

ACT Scholarship (based on composite score)

  •   21-22 - $200 per semester.                 
  • 23-25 - One-half tuition per semester.
  •   26-28 -  Full tuition per semester.      
  • 29+ - Full tuition , $200 bookstore credit per semester, and ½ Room & Board.

*ACT Scholarships DO NOT apply to out-of-state fee.
** ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS may NOT be combined.  (Student may accept only one) Scholarship good for four (4) semesters.  Scholarship may not be redeemed for cash value.
Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA on 12 semester hours to remain eligible.

HONORS INSTITUTE
One-half tuition scholarships are awarded to those students selected as members of the Charles Pickering Honors Institute.  Scholarships are based on application, qualification and available positions. 
Honors Scholarships DO NOT apply towards out-of-state fee.
Honors Scholarships may be combined with Academic and/or Service scholarships, and are good for four (4) semesters. Scholarships may not be redeemed for cash value.
Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA on 12 semester hours to remain eligible.

JUNIOR MISS & MISS HOSPITALITY SCHOLARSHIP
Full tuition scholarships are awarded to winners of Junior Miss and Miss Hospitality pageants throughout the State of Mississippi. 

Junior Miss & Miss Hospitality Scholarships may be combined with Academic and/or Service scholarships, and are good for four (4) semesters.

**Recipients must maintain a 2.5 GPA on 12 semester hours to remain eligible. 

SERVICE SCHOLARSHIPS
Service scholarships are awarded for fine arts, athletics, cheerleading, publications, and other service-oriented organizations.  These are based on try-out/application/audition and
available positions.  Service scholarships DO NOT apply towards out-of-state fee unless specifically noted in scholarship contract.

Students may accept multiple Service Scholarships in addition to other scholarships.
Service Scholarships are good for a maximum of six (6) semesters.  Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours to be eligible for scholarship or participation.

BOOKSTORE & HOUSING REGULATIONS
*In combining scholarships, bookstore credit is limited to a maximum of $600 per semester (except Presidential).  Any additional scholarship credit may be applied to Room & Board for students choosing to live in Campus Housing.  Scholarships may not be redeemed for cash value (refunds).

OTHER FINANCIAL AID

The Jones County Junior College Foundation, Inc., was chartered by the State of Mississippi in 1988 as a non-profit corporation to provide support for the College and its students.  The Foundation provides a variety of scholarships to qualifying individuals.  Call 601-477-4050 for more information.
