WORK BASED LEARNING

2010 JCJC Job Fair
Welcome to Jones
County Junior College's Work-Based Learning (WBL) Cooperative (Co-op) Education Program. We
look forward to working with you and we hope that your
experience with our program will be positive.
The
Work-Based Learning Program at JCJC recognizes that learning
occurs throughout life, not just in the classroom. The program is
designed to match students with jobs directly related to the
students’ majors. Each
year, about a hundred JCJC students gain an advantage they may not
get in the classroom - practical, hands-on work experience.
Because of this training, students are better qualified upon
graduation to fill permanent, full-time positions with any
company - perhaps even the company that gave them the
experience.
At the workplace, students work closely with mentors who impart the skills and
knowledge necessary for students to prosper in the field. Worksite
supervisors, classroom
instructors,
and a WBL/Co-op coordinator work to guide and challenge students to perform
well. Through these experiences, students learn the
knowledge and skills appropriate to a specific career and the
general work expectations of promptness, commitment, and
persistence that can serve them in all careers.
