Hyflex classes, addressing today’s higher education demands

The global pandemic has taught us the need for flexibility and a variety of delivery methods as the standard for a successful education and while presenting an opportunity in a positive way to transform toward excellence.

With that in mind, Jones College is excited to present the HYFLEX course model. The HYFLEX course model provides flexibility and optimal educational pathways, while also addressing health concerns due to COVID-19.

HYFLEX classes provide a flexible course structure that gives students the option of attending sessions in the classroom, participating online, or taking part in both. Class formats cover Academic and Career & Technical classes in the student’s choice of locations and methods.

Your College, Your Way

Flexibility and student options are not limited to classes, but address student needs in numerous areas.

Affordable, flexible payment plans and no upfront costs for enrollment.

Virtual appointments for convenient scheduling, enrollment and orientation.

Student services – personal advisement, tutoring and counseling offered virtually.

Health services - face-to-face or virtually through our mobile campus health clinic.

Virtual summer orientation is being added to the lineup of flexible services that will be offered to students this summer through their Jones College Canvas Learning System online tool and facilitated through the Office of Student Affairs

In addition to our HYFLEX and face-to-face options, Jones College will continue to offer fully online courses that are facilitated through the Mississippi Virtual Community College (MSVCC). The MSVCC courses meet fully online and offer students endless opportunities for easy scheduling and limited personal contact requirements. The Jones College MSVCC online courses begin Monday, August 24, 2020, and end Friday, December 11, 2020.

Campus Health and Safety have always been important to Jones College, especially now with the impact of the upcoming cold and flu season added to the constant threat of COVID-19. Jones College is addressing campus health and safety head-on.

Employees, students, and visitors can expect to adhere to the CDC standards to reduce the rate of the disease spreading on campus by

  • Wearing a mask
  • Maintaining a six-foot distance from others
  • Refraining from community meeting spaces
  • Washing hands frequently

Additionally, all employees, students, and visitors will be required to participate in daily health checks. These health checks involve daily temperature readings, a brief health questionnaire, and for those impacted by COVID-19 campus-related contact screening.
