Automotive Technology is an instructional program that prepares individuals to engage in the servicing and maintenance of all types of automobiles. Instruction includes the diagnosis of malfunctions and the repair of engines; fuel, electrical, cooling, and brake systems; drive trains, and suspension systems. Instruction is also provided in the adjustment and repair of individual components such as transmissions and fuel systems.
Automotive Technology is an articulated certificate/technical program designed to provide advanced technical skills to students. Baseline competencies, taken from the secondary Automotive Mechanics curriculum, serve as a foundation for the competencies and objectives taught in the courses of the program. Students who do not possess these competencies will be allowed to acquire them during the program. Students who can document mastery of the baseline competencies will receive advanced instructions. Automotive Technology offers a Technical Certificate Option or an Associate in Applied Science Option.
The approximate cost of tools required for this course is $1,800 and must be purchased within the first two weeks of classes.
