Jones College ONE Step Program


Introducing the Jones College ONE Step Program.

A concept that has been specifically designed for the qualifying full-time worker who is looking to take collegiate courses for possible advancement. The ONE Step Program provides one class per semester, up to four semesters, at NO COST, while also offering additional credit hours for professional experience. Comprehensive support is provided through the Jones College Office of Career Services. This support includes personalized guidance in course selection, streamlined admissions with employment verification, and tailored scheduling to accommodate the demanding lives of its participants. The aim is to make higher education attainable for working professionals while empowering them to achieve their educational and career goals.

Who is the ONE Step Program built to support?

The Jones College ONE Step program is a tailored initiative designed to assist working adults who are employed full-time and have limited resources yet wish to pursue higher education. This comprehensive program is structured to accommodate the unique needs and constraints of its participants.

What is the cost of participating in the ONE Step Program?

By participating in the Jones College ONE Step program, individuals will receive 6 semester credit hours of coursework (for up to 4 semesters) at no cost to the participant.



What courses are available for the ONE Step Program?


  • 2199 BAD 1113 Introduction to Business–Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 This course develops written and oral communication skills for future professionals among multicultural audiences with an emphasis on principles of writing business messages, generating reports and presentations, and preparing communications for employment.

  • 2208 BOT 1273 Introduction to Microsoft Office 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 This course will introduce an operating system and word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and presentation software applications. Chromebooks are not compatible with this course.

  • 2196 BOT 1233 Microsoft Word I –Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 This course focuses on improving keyboarding techniques using the touch method and on production of documents using Microsoft Word functions. Chromebooks are not compatible with this course.

  • 2197 BOT 1823 Microsoft Excel I –Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 This course focuses on the application of Microsoft Excel as an aid to management decision making. Chromebooks are not compatible with this course.

  • 1900 CRJ 1313 Introduction to Criminal Justice–Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 History, development, and philosophy of law enforcement in a democratic society, introduction to agencies involved in the administration of criminal justice; career Orientation.

  • 1901 CRJ 1363 Introduction to Corrections –Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 An overview of the correctional field; its origins, historical and philosophical background, development, current status, relationship with other facets of the criminal justice system, and future prospects.

  • 1902 CRJ 1383 Criminology–Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 The nature and significance of criminal behavior. Theories, statistics, trends, and programs concerning criminal behavior

  • 1903 CRJ 2333 Criminal Investigation–Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 A study of principles of investigation, proper collection, documentation, and preservation of evidence.

  • 1907 ENG 124 Intermediate English–Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 This integrated course is designed to advance students to college-level writing skills and reading strategies.

  • 1047 MAT 1234 Intermediate Algebra–Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 This course includes linear equations and their graphs; inequalities and number line graphs; rational expressions; factoring; laws of exponents; radicals; polynomials. Prerequisite(s): MAT 1033 , grade C or better, or ACT math score of 15 or 16.

  • 2020 PSC 1113 American National Government–Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 Survey of the organizations, political aspects, and basis of national government.

  • 2059 SPT 1113 Public Speaking I (Speech) –Online 1/16/24 - 4/26/24 Study and practice in making speeches for a variety of public forums. Major emphasis is placed on effective speech preparation and delivery.
